With 8 species covered, 69 plant breeding centres, and a high throughput genotyping centre, every year Limagrain invests 14.6% of its turnover in Research.

The aim of research in Europe is twofold:

  • supply the product ranges with new varieties,
  • better understand how genomes function and detect new genes of interest using biotechnology (Biogemma, Génoplante), in order to prepare for tomorrow’s innovations.

Thanks to these considerable resources, Limagrain Europe will be able to meet tomorrow’s European agricultural requirements in three essential areas:

  • increase in the productivity of varieties in order to ensure the sustainable development and viability of farms,
  • integration of innovations achieved using biotechnology, especially through GMOs,
  • responding to the evolution of the different markets (bio-energies, specific qualities).
